Announcing Our Antarctica Whale Defense Campaign Operation Antarctic Shield
Objective: Conduct Mass Surveillance, Preparation, and Intervention When Assets Are Constructed
Operation Antarctic Shield is a resolute response to the ongoing threat posed by whaling activities worldwide, and to oppose the planned return of the Japanese whaling fleet in Antarctic waters, which the whalers have begun work on a new purpose-built whaling factory mothership to replace the aging Nisshin Maru. Simply Put: They Plan To Return. We Must Be Ready!
Our campaign is named for the protective barrier it represents, and this operation is a testament to the dedication of passionate activists, scientists, and engineers united in the fight against whaling and ensuring we’re defending our planet’s most majestic inhabitants – the whales.
The Whaling Threat
In the vast expanse of the Antarctic waters and across the globe, the relentless pursuit of profit through whaling has placed the world’s whale population in grave danger. These magnificent creatures, vital to the balance of our oceans ecosystems and the well-being of our planet, are mercilessly hunted for their meat. The need for immediate and decisive, overwhelming action cannot be overstated.
Earlier this year we made post about the Japanese whalers returning to their home port after a mission down south, this information included the whalers captain, port call, crew numbers (16 total at the time), gross tonnage during the operation, and the date of return of the hunter vessels, which was later published by the Paul Watson Foundation’s Facebook page. However this information was published by the Whale Defense Agency’s founder on Facebook, and later reported on by Paul Watson Foundation.
These vessels came back from a survey mission in the Antarctic (Non-Lethal). They are conducting whale research in Antarctica still in order to ensure they have the knowledge for hunting operations in the future.
The Yushin Maru 2 and 3 were at a position of 18° 08′ 08.8″ S, 178° 25′ 22.8″ E in December 2022. We continue to track and monitor the vessels movements into 2023 and now as we make our way into 2024 soon.
Operation Antarctic Shield
Operation Antarctic Shield stands as both a symbolic and a tangible shield against the destructive forces of whaling. These systems we’ve discussed are real world tools in development or which are used by the agency in it’s whale defense campaigns. Our mission is clear: to form an impenetrable barrier between the whalers and the vulnerable whales that call the Antarctic waters and other global waters their home.
We are resolute in our commitment to safeguard these gentle giants and ensure their survival for generations to come, no matter where the whalers operate. We’re already conducting vital surveillance on the whaling fleet in Japan with on the ground surveillance and expect to expand this operation.
The agency is warning the Japanese whaling fleet that covert capabilities will be utilized to disrupt whaling should the whalers attempt to leave port for Antarctica. The Whale Defense Agency is waiting to reveal the whalers new mothership once it’s constructed and located by anti-whaling forces. From this point, measures will be taken against the Japanese whaling fleet.
Our Coalition of Guardians
Operation Antarctic Shield is not the work of a solitary entity but a powerful coalition. Comprising dedicated activists, partner NGO’s, tireless scientists, and engineers, we have joined forces to defend the sanctity of our oceans and the lives that inhabit them. Our unity is our strength, and together, we shall be an unwavering force for change.
Tools of Defense
At the heart of our never ending campaign, dubbed Operation Antarctic Shield lies a formidable arsenal of advanced tools and cutting-edge research, carefully crafted patrol vessels, software and tools to outmaneuver and outwit whaling efforts. These tools, developed by the Whale Defense Agency, are a testament to our relentless drive for innovation in whale defense. They enable us to monitor, deter, and confront whalers with a precision that is unrivaled.
Our Commitment to Non-Violence
Operation Antarctic Shield, while employing military-style precision and strategy, upholds the principles of non-violence championed by Paul Watson.
Our founder, James Anderson, who is undoubtedly inspired by Paul Watson, ensures our tactics are aggressive, but they are not violent. We adopt Paul Watson-style approaches, elevated and innovated upon like never seen before, to halt whaling activities with a resolve that leaves no room for compromise and that leaves no critical gaps in our engagement or deterrent capacity.
Support The Campaign
We invite you, as our valued supporters, to join us in this critical endeavor and campaign. Your contributions to the Whale Defense Agency’s advanced whale defense programs and research play an integral role in our mission.
By investing in our efforts, you are investing in a future where whale’s don’t have to worry if the Yushin Maru will be barreling down at them at over 25 knots, or if we have a fast enough ship, if we have enough long-range tools, or if we have enough surveillance capabilities.
