New Anti Whaling Technologies

The Whale Defense Agency

Our approach at the Whale Defense Agency integrates advanced technology, cutting-edge innovation, and strategic interventions, all designed to disrupt and ultimately stop whaling operations. Below is a comprehensive overview of the full range of anti-whaling options, the platforms undergoing R&D, and the new technologies we’re developing to stay ahead in this vital cause.

The Kangei Hunter (APV) – Our Flagship Vessel

At the forefront of our efforts is the in-development 60-meter-long Anti-Poaching Vessel (APV), named The Kangei Hunter. With the ability to reach speeds of over 60 knots, the APV is designed to disrupt whaling operations with unmatched agility and power. Built with a reinforced aluminum and Corten steel hull, this high-speed vessel can carry out surveillance, direct-action interventions, and strategic operations to protect whales. The APV is a technological marvel, combining state-of-the-art tracking and intervention tools. It carries drones, underwater monitoring systems, and an onboard helicopter for advanced surveillance and rapid response, among other secret tools for disrupting whaling!

Long-Range UAVs and Drones

Our UAVs are instrumental in monitoring whaling activities from above. These unmanned aerial vehicles are equipped with real-time tracking systems and are capable of covering vast distances, anywhere from 100km up to 1,000 nautical miles. This allows us to track the movements of whaling ships, including the notorious Kangei Maru, and stay ahead of their operations. Drones also provide live feed to our vessels in the field, allowing us to take immediate action when necessary, live stream footage to the world, and provide data for future operations, simulations and analysis, 3d scanning, and other actions against the whaling vessels to support whale defense efforts.

High-Speed Interceptors

In addition to the APV, we are developing high-speed interceptors to complement our main vessel’s operations. These interceptors are designed to respond quickly to whaling threats, engaging with whaling ships when necessary to stop operations in real-time. The interceptors are 18 meters long and equipped with state-of-the-art communication systems, ensuring full coordination with other vessels and UAVs in our fleet. They can travel over 30 knots, and can operate for 30 days without refueling, can reach distances exceeding 2,700 nautical miles @ 25 knots without refueling, and can be manned or unmanned.

HSHS

Currently undergoing R&D, our HSHS is designed for rapid, covert deployment and ultra-fast speeds exceeding 70 knots on the surface. This vessel will offer a new dimension to our anti-whaling operations, capable of both staying hidden underwater and emerging on the surface for high-speed intervention. By utilizing this craft, we can disrupt whaling operations undetected and launch surprise interventions. WDA leadership can opt to keep her hidden or reveal her to the whaling fleet at sea to increase deterrence and let them know they have been monitored the entire time.

Trimaran Patrol Vessel (Barracuda)

Our trimaran patrol vessel represents the next generation of anti-whaling patrol ships. With a unique hull design that allows for high-speed maneuvers, the trimaran can reach speeds of over 45 knots in under 2 minutes. It’s designed for extreme precision, offering rapid acceleration and deceleration, and is equipped with waterjets and traditional props. This vessel will be used for high-speed patrols and as a rapid response unit in cases of emergency.

It will provide WDA with the extensive logistical and bunkering services the WDA fleet requires for continued operations, flight operations, covert deployment, and special operations anti-whaling enforcement teams (the ones who will quite literally use their former military skills to parachute onto a whaling ship in complete darkness from the air or a cargo transport like a C-130) that has been refitted and modified from government surplus aircraft auctions and repurposed for anti-whaling actions. Teams can be picked up by local ships and helicopters, but how we plan these operations is not going to really be discussed for operational security.
