The Whale Defense Agency (WDA) operates at the intersection of direct action and cutting-edge research and development. We are not bound by conventional NGO doctrine. Our mission is to create and deploy the most advanced technologies capable of stopping whaling anytime, anywhere.
WDA doesn’t sleep — whether it’s 1 AM, 3 AM, or 11 PM, we are constantly designing, engineering, and refining tools to ensure the whaling fleets are always at risk. Our team operates around the clock, developing and testing new technologies with relentless dedication, creating an arms race against whalers where innovation is the key to victory.
Our approach is to continuously outpace threats by developing new technologies so fast that they leave whalers in a state of panic at how fast we destroy their advantages. One example is T-5 Hellspike, the first ever tech designed to sink the Kangei Maru. We designed this to hold the whalers legal actions, whaling and extradition threats and support at extreme risk.
To do so, we had to engineer Hellspike to sink Kangei, creating the extreme risk required. It also undermines the whalers legal team by giving their legal company a bad name in the media for months (after a sinking) as they will be known then as the legal team who got a 48 million dollar whaling ship sunk by simply talking or activating a lawsuit or extradition of any anti-whaling member from any ngo. We’ve effectively destroyed their only viable last known tool, “legal action and extradition,” by holding their mothership at risk of sinking at any time, and by showing we have the technology and the desire to respond.
This Ship Sinking Technology (SST) can sink Kangei Maru in under 10 minutes, these devices only take 1.66 seconds to breach, and we already have plans designed to sink her. Ten (10) divers, each equipped with a small batch, are able to deliver a total combined 200 holes in the ship in about 5 minutes from arriving on target. This makes arresting Paul Watson a far too dangerous option for them to rationally make, making it far better for them to leave him and others alone. The loss and extreme risks outweigh the benefits of targeting Paul Watson or others if their ship will just sink in the end. The whalers thought Paul Watson was their threat. Well, they are about to find out how “controlled and diluted” their actions are compared to our hyperfocus on whaling.
Technology | Status | Description |
---|---|---|
CURRENT TECHNOLOGY | ||
T-5 Hellspike Breacher | Operational, Actively Deployed on Missions Currently | Ship-sinking and hull-penetration technology designed for rapid vessel disabling in 1.66 seconds and exceeding 4 Inches of reinforced steel, though publicly we only showcase 2 inches for operational security. The contents within the Hellspike are classified under IP laws and protected from exposure and unauthorized possession. |
APV 60-Knot Patrol Vessel | Classified Status, Protected Missions | High-speed anti-whaling ship capable of engaging multiple targets at extreme speeds. Capable of outrunning the fastest warship on earth and the world record holder for fastest warship at 60 meters long, capable of over 60 knots for well over 1,000nm without stopping. Powered by the world's largest Marine Gas Turbine, generating over 60,000 horsepower. The APV is an asset designed for stealth missions that are "off the radar" of traditional anti-whaling tactics and campaigns, designed for intense combat engagements and fast strike missions. |
IN DEVELOPMENT | ||
WAPS (Whale Active Protection System) | Prototype Stage | Harpoon interception system capable of neutralizing grenade-tipped harpoons mid-flight. The expected response time from detection to interception of incoming harpoon projectiles is projected to be 560 microseconds. It is the only known system in the world in active development for the purpose of making grenade-tipped harpoon based whaling completely obsolete by destroying inbound harpoons before they ever have a chance to impact a whale, and WDA can do so without fighting the whalers at sea and just placing vessels equipped with these nearby all harpoon ships and other vessels. |
Barracuda Anti-Whaling Vessel | Design Finalization | Multi-role, high-speed enforcement vessel with non-lethal deterrent systems, advanced logistics, and covert operationa capabilities, including "moonpool" and other functions such as inserting covert teams into regions where required for force projection and anti-whaling enforcement. |
UPCOMING TECHNOLOGY | ||
High-Speed Hybrid Submarine | Research Phase | 100+ knot hybrid vessel designed for covert anti-whaling operations. Can operate for an entire year without refueling, and can run on batteries for the same amount of time, without refueling. It's a platform that can act as both a surface ship, and a submarine, with varying speeds and is a hybrid electric submarine with a completly modern hull design and features some stealth properities, such as hull modifications and angled designs to reduce radar returns. |
World's First Anti-Whaling Joint All Domain Command & Control Network | Concept Development | Integrated anti-whaling battle management system for fleet coordination, intelligence, and autonomous decision-making support, satellite monitoring and 3D digital anti-whaling warfare wargaming for overmatch dominance. |
Our approach at the Whale Defense Agency integrates advanced technology, cutting-edge innovation, and strategic interventions, all designed to disrupt and ultimately stop whaling operations. Below is a comprehensive overview of the full range of anti-whaling options, the platforms undergoing R&D, and the new technologies we’re developing to stay ahead in this vital cause.
Our flagship vessel, the 60-meter Kangei Hunter, is built for speed and agility, reaching over 60 knots. Its reinforced aluminum and Corten steel hull support advanced surveillance and intervention tools, including drones, underwater systems, and an onboard helicopter for rapid, real-time action against whaling activities.
Our UAVs are essential for tracking and monitoring whaling fleets over vast distances. Equipped with real-time tracking and live-streaming capabilities, these drones enable us to stay ahead of whalers, gather data for simulations, and provide immediate footage to support operations in real-time.
Designed for quick intervention, our 18-meter interceptors can reach speeds over 30 knots and travel up to 2,700 nautical miles without refueling. They are capable of engaging whaling vessels and supporting coordination across our fleet. These versatile interceptors can be manned or unmanned, depending on the operation.
Our HSHS, currently in R&D, will exceed 70 knots on the surface and can submerge for covert operations. Capable of surprise interventions, it gives us the ability to engage whaling operations undetected, either keeping it hidden or deploying it for maximum deterrence.
The Barracuda, a high-speed trimaran, reaches over 45 knots in under two minutes and offers extreme precision in acceleration and deceleration. Equipped with waterjets and props, it will serve as a rapid-response unit for emergency interventions, and also support the logistical and bunkering needs of our fleet.
WDA’s fleet supports complex operations, including air drops and covert team deployments, using surplus C-130 aircraft refitted for anti-whaling actions. Our teams, including former military personnel, are trained for high-risk operations like parachuting onto whaling ships at night to enforce action.
