Intelligence Collection

The Whale Defense Agency

Intelligence Collection & Covert Operations

The Whale Defense Agency understands that effective anti-whaling efforts go beyond technology and direct action. A key component of our strategy is the gathering of intelligence, the strategic use of covert agents, and the execution of psychological operations (psyops). A comprehensive approach that focuses on each key part, including the specific kill chain operations of the whaling fleets harpoon ships, from whale detection, to chase and kill, we disrupt this whale kill chain through advanced intelligence, strategic disruption, and operational planning. These intelligence-driven tactics provide us with invaluable insights into whaling operations, while also allowing us to disrupt and manipulate the plans of those who threaten whales in ways they could never imagine.

Covert Intelligence Collection

Our intelligence operations are a critical pillar of our strategy to disrupt and prevent whaling. The WDA has established an extensive network of surveillance and intelligence gathering tools, both on the ground and at sea. We monitor whaling vessels, supply chains, and the movements of key players in the industry. This data allows us to act preemptively with vessels, intercepting and blocking whaling fleets long before they reach their target areas.

We also collaborate with a global network of informants and allies to keep tabs on whaling operations, ensuring that we have real-time intelligence and remain one step ahead. This network is supported by our advanced technology, including satellite tracking, drone surveillance, and maritime reconnaissance systems.

Covert Agents and Double Agents

The WDA employs a select group of covert agents who are embedded within the whaling industry or adjacent sectors. These individuals are critical to our mission, providing us with direct, inside information that is essential to dismantling whaling operations. Our agents work in various capacities — posing as workers (non-active whaling roles), contractors, or even engaging with pro-whaling groups in an undercover capacity, in online forums, and in other areas.

In some cases, we’ve successfully turned double agents who previously worked with whalers, using their access to gather and sabotage whaling operations from within. These agents are invaluable, providing intelligence that allows us to launch targeted interventions and bring down key players in the whaling network, uncover passwords, and operate at levels that are not imaginable to the whalers today.

Psychological Operations (PsyOps)

Our psyops operations are designed to undermine the morale, organization, and operations of whalers. By spreading misinformation, creating confusion, reporting on facts, and sowing discord within whaling fleets, we weaken their ability to function effectively. Whether it’s through anonymous leaks, fake news, or fabricated or real-world reports about the imminent destruction of their vessels, our goal is to disrupt the psychological stability of those involved in the whaling industry.

These psychological tactics are often used in tandem with real-world interventions, amplifying the effects of our direct actions and enhancing the impact of our technological innovations. Through careful planning and execution, we ensure that our psyops campaign complements our larger mission of whale defense at sea. It’s a daunting reality for the whalers, but this is no Greenpeace. They’re used to the old ways of engagement, and by having two different strategies in place by two different NGO’s in direct-action anti-whaling will create critical threats to the whaling industry’s survival, in ways we are not yet disclosing, but that we know of already, which they do not yet know about. This is the next generation of anti-whaling measures.

Cyber Operations

In addition to physical covert operations, the WDA has engaged in strategic cyber operations. These efforts include using intelligence software that pulls data from more than 200 social media platforms, over 1BN online identities, over 1TB breached data and 120 different data providers, accessing information from a wide range of sources including social media platforms, dark web data, breached databases, Whois records, and more, allowing WDA to gather intelligence from a vast array of public and accessible sources, uncovering data breaches, and digital espionage against pro-whaling organizations. We can sabotage the logistics of whaling operations, expose confidential information, and disrupt their communications. This digital warfare provides another layer of defense against whaling, ensuring that the industry faces constant uncertainty.

Through these intelligence collection methods, covert agents, double agents, psyops, and cyber operations, the WDA is able to neutralize threats to whales before they materialize (during active operations of WDA). Our integrated approach blends technology, human resources, and strategic psychological warfare to maintain unrelenting pressure on those engaged in illegal whaling. The results speak for themselves — every operation is meticulously planned, each action contributes to the broader mission, and together, we are ensuring that the whalers never operate in peace.
